It's a fact of life for me that on Sunday afternoons, I get this  tugging
and nagging thought that I should be doing something.  It's really  the
leftover custom for me of calling my mother on Sunday afternoons.
 
Mother has been dead since 1998 (she died at age 98), but such are
the tugs on the memory after all that time.
 
For my mother, one might forget her birthday, or even Christmas, as
unlikely as those lapses might be, but one had better NEVER forget  mother's
day.  This meant the obligatory card, and phone call, but also a
GIFT.
