Long long ago on honeymoon in England with ex-ex-, we visited relatives
of his whose lovely home had once belonged to Evelyn Waugh. As I recall
it, on the door that opened from the bathroom to her bedroom, there was
padding to muffle his hammering to be let in. But I digress .... The
bathroom itself was enormous, and up three steps like an altar was the
toilet with a commanding view of the countryside, a real throne room.
