[Magdalen] Ten More Days

I am SICK AND TIRED of this election and of all the garbage and BS around
it. This country needs a law limiting the process----if not 6 months, no
longer than a year. This whole business has been more appalling than ever
this time, like a travesty of its former self.

Yesterday, while lying in bed feeling evil and awful because of some kind
of tummy bug, I developed a theory about what might be wrong with the US.
It seems we may have been settled primarily by poor people and younger sons
who, once they got a little bit of money and power, decided, "I've got
mine, now the hell with the rest of you!" That whole attitude permeates our
history and much of our politics, to say nothing of our business dealings
and our treatment of women and minorities. It seems worse now than it's
been in a good long time, despite seeming strides. And no, I do NOT want to
go back to the 1950s...I lived through them, and once was enough, what with
nuclear fears, the cold war, segregation, and polio.
