These propositions can be tricky, especially if the short description on the ballot omits a point of controversy in the actual longer wording of the proposition itself.
Our county propositions included two dealing with continuing our open space law which severely regulates the conversion of farm property to city property.
One of them was far more lenient to the farmer, but you couldn't tell that from the wording on the ballot itself.
This law makes it very pleasant to live in our county if you came here long ago or have the wherewithal to afford to buy here, but makes it very difficult for younger people.
We older ones always say we don't want our county to turn into another San Fernando Valley, but it ensures an older and wealthier population.
