This attitude was common in the group of Biretta Belt bishops who  were
active at that time.  This included +Eau Claire, +Milwaukee,  +Chicago.
+Quincy, +Springfield, and +Northern Indiana.  This group was  usually
present for events in the various dioceses and for consecrations of  
bishops.
There were several of these events during the years I lived in Eau  Claire.
 
Interestingly, some of them at least, including +Eau Claire were  supporters
of the ordination of women as deacons, a subject that Rome is now  
discussing.
