Every service at St. James, Hyde Park, we pray, among others, for "Ashley,
and a cure for cystic fibrosis."
Ashley's grandmother is a fellow choir member and our senior warden.
I support a couple of things on gofundme, and discovered that there is a
gofundme account for Ashley, due to the very high out of pocket expenses of
the care for cystic fibrosis.
As you know, I do not generally ask others to give to things just because I
think they are a great idea. However, when I opened the page of her
account, I saw immediately a lovely picture of Ashley, and I could not look
away. In the time I've been at Saint James, I've grown to have a great deal
of love and respect for Wilma, her grandmother. This burden is a
heartbreaking one for her, and she carries it with supreme grace and
dignity. I only wish I could get the staff together to find a cure for this
terrible disease, but we do what we can.
I think that if some donations were to come from other parts of the
Episcopal Church, it would send an extra message of encouragement and
support, and let them know that they are not alone.
