My English-speaking grandmother also wrote (and spoke) the word "receipt."
She said "recipe" was just an affectation.
Same thing for "envelope" if pronounced "awn-vell-ope."
And "guh-rahz."

I still have her hand-written receipt book,
which contains recipts for mustard plasters
and spring tonics
and drawing salves,
as well as cakes and mutton.

I've worried much about the fate of my dear relic,
but UMass Amherst maintains a collection of old cookbooks.
