Reminds me of the little spiel I always gave resident physcians
"rotating" through dermatology:
 
(1) Callous means unfeeling, cold, etc.  It is an adjective.
 
(2) Callus means a thickened, tough area of the skin, most frequently  found
      on the feet.  It is a noun.
 
If they retained anything from their rotations, they should remember  that.
