The Slavs are by far the strongest ethnic local group, and among  them
are the numerous persons of Lithuanian ethnicity.  There is  therefore
a noticeable tendency  to pronounce all "-age" words in the
Lithuanian manner = "-atsch.  This ending is the Lithuanian
equivalent of other Slavic "-ich" or "-icz" etc.
 
Older listers may remember the very popular television newscaster
(USA), Jessica Savage, who did insist that her name be pronounced
in the Lithuanian manner, "SA-vatsch.
