At least some of the Latin American foods my spouse is fond  of,
I enjoy.  One of his favorites, a salted fish with onions  dish, I find
quite delicious.  Unfortunately, my already problematic  lower legs
bloat up for a couple of days following a meal of this  treat.
 
I guess the Midwestern USA rural idea that anything not  originating
on a Midwestern farm is suspect is probably best for me.   Thus,
fish, and rice, among others, are best excluded.
 
Color me Midwestern bland.
