It doesn’t take an avalanche to demonstrate the power of snow, Sally, just a foot give or take that one must move and put somewhere else in order to go anywhere. I live in Syracuse, NY, where we compete with other cities in the state’s snow belt for the annual Golden Snowball award. We often win it; our average is about 120 inches per year. The main thing I've noticed about climate change is that winter has tended to come and go in recent years (today it’s in the mid-30s F and raining) whereas in the past winter came and stayed with only a brief January thaw. Snow was on the ground for months, people could ski and snowshoe all winter most years.
