Re Madonna:
I watched the film of that part of the march, and I was just fine with everything she said until the end, when she said "F*** you!" and then repeated it even louder.

I'm still old-fashioned enough to think that profanity may be all right in its place, but a public speech like that is not the place.  So I can see why someone might feel the need to apologize to anyone who might see her as representing America
