I actually love doing laundry (towels & sheets are OK in the stackable,
but quilts & bedspreads need bigger machines).

Long ago I read an article in National Geographic that had photos of
village women beating their clothes on rocks at the side of the river.
Looked like they were talking, possibly working to solve personal, village
and global problems.

Then I discovered that we do the same thing in the laundromat. It's where I
get all the neighborhood news: who's pregnant, who's divorcing, who's
downsizing. The change in the city's shadow laws. The woes of the current
presidency. I've even chatted with our city councilor while folding.
