Be that as it may, the language did not sound, in any of its
regional variations, like the sometimes overblown RP delivery
of such as (and otherwise a personal favorite) Sir Patrick Stewart when
he is doing Shakespeare.
The Guthrie (Minneapolis) has done most of its Shakespeare, including
Richard III in modern but stentorian North American English. The Bard
of Avon comes off very nicely in such productions. He doesn't need
BBC English.
