[Magdalen] Ascensiontide?

It was more common than you might think. I once happened to use the word pornography when talking to my then Rector who had been raised a Methodist. I was using it as a simile , that is, I said something along the lines of ...a particular piece of popular music was artistic pornography.... His reaction was almost apoplectic, and he abandoned the conversation, leaving me wondering what was wrong. His wife explained to me later that the Methodist father was so hung up on sexual matters that the mere mention of any word with sexual connotations by his progeny was followed by a beating, thus leaving said progeny with unmistakable ptsd. More than sad. It's no wonder this poor man retired early, I can't imagine how he functioned pastorally...
