Recuse as a verb is in the news today because of the USA Attorney
General removing himself from the investigation of Trump et all
in relation to Russia.

The word also reminds me that the term for those English citizens
at the time of the English Reformation (1534 and later) who refused
to submit to Henry VIII and the new CofE, is Recusants.

Another set of terms used around here this week was shrove and
shriven in relation to Mardi Gras and pancake suppers. The local
Procathedral was featured for the pancake supper in the local
paper, including some nice pictures, though the priest in charge
didn't quite get the terms right. But the Procathedral will take all
the publicity it can get!
