Gotta say. This reads like a hack job (in the old sense of that term).

I remember working on a piece for a drug treatment center fundraising
newsletter.
One of the young men had written that he and his father were reconciled to
the point that they were able to play pool together again. The director
ordered that we change it to "go to a baseball game" before it went to the
printer.
