[Magdalen] Carols/music?

I'm doing long-term supply in the church where I've been priest=associate
for about ten years and where I've don some long-term supply in the past.
anyway, I was discussing the upcoming service of Advent Lessons & Carols
with the secretary, and she said last year they changed it to "Lessons and
Music." I asked why, and she said it was because people objected to using
the word "Carols," because folks would think it was about things like
"White Christmas" or "Jingle Bells," etc.

I told her we're not changing it this year. I can hardly wait for someone
to come to me and complain...   <sigh>   There's a possibility they're
going to ask me to be priest-in-charge, since there aren't any interims
available right now, but this is the kind of stuff I don't miss about
parish ministry!
