>>>I asked why, and she said it was because people objected to using
the word "Carols," because folks would think it was about things like
"White Christmas" or "Jingle Bells," etc.
I told her we're not changing it this year. I can hardly wait for someone
to come to me and complain... <sigh> <<<

>From the nature of the response you received as to why the change, it's obvious your congregation understands the difference. And I applaud your indicating it won't change this year. But the real problem, as I see it, is your congregation's handling of the age-old parochial question: "Do we honor historically and definitionaly accurate Anglican heritage, or do we do what [we think] is needed to not confuse, and thereby repulse, the assumbably uninformed 'C' of the 'CEO [Christmas Easter Occasionally] Bunch'?" Unfortunately, the latter translates into "We Want Numbers, Or At Least Not To Appear Uninteresting Or Out Of Step When It Comes To Christmas".

I don't envy you. And I hope for the best.

M J (Mike) Logsdon.
