Wegman's is headquartered in Rochester/Buffalo, NY and has stores in six states.
The chain frequently is at the top of any list for good/gourmet grocery stores in the
USA.  To my knowledge, there is no connection with Kroger.
 
I wish there were a Wegman's nearer my home location (Hazleton, PA), but currently
there are stores only in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, PA.
