As a Canadian, my memory of FDR was the Camels ad

Can you imagine a more recent President doing that?

When a child and on a family vacation that culminated in Alvarado, TX, my late father's place of birth, he made a point of stopping on the side of one of the roads that spiderwebbed out from the town square, and bringing me over to a particular tree. He told me, Zaccheus-style, that he'd climbed that particular tree, I think sometime in the 1930s, so as to get a clear view of FDR as he was driven through town. I would love to visit there today, hoping of course that that tree still exists.
