[Magdalen] FDR Dies.

My own birth was of course slightly over 20 years in the future, but I definitely have an FDR "memory", as it were.  I think I've told it before, but I'll tell it again.  When a child and on a family vacation that culminated in Alvarado, TX, my late father's place of birth, he made a point of stopping on the side of one of the roads that spiderwebbed out from the town square, and bringing me over to a particular tree.  He told me, Zaccheus-style, that he'd climbed that particular tree, I think sometime in the 1930s, so as to get a clear view of FDR as he was driven through town.  I would love to visit there today, hoping of course that that tree still exists.
