[Magdalen] Redundant?

I think our Cathedral May have had that in mind for this year but I was blissfully repairing the Red Chasuble with nary a heads-up that it would be needed over Christmas tide... when I was contacted on the 23rd asking if it was finished yet. 
I wonder if this was an innovation discussed at GC last summer?
