It's a big day in the Western Pennsylvania town of Punxsutawney.  It's the
day of the groundhog and shadows, etc.
 
It's also on the liturgical calendar as the Feasts of the Purification of
the BVM, the Presentation of Our lord, and Candlemas.  
 
I always love the Nunc Dimittis sung on this day:
 
 
 
<Lord, now you let your servant go in peace,
your word has been fulfilled:
My own eyes have seen the salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of every people:
a light to reveal you to the nations
and the glory of your people Israel.>
 
 
Do candles for the liturgical year have to have some
