No, as to the candles. Many churches now use plastic candles filled with
oil (including our church -- and I don't care for them). Lots of churches
also use paraffin, and I don't care for the smell. Nothing like the smell
in a church of beeswax candles! Better than incense, IMO.
The version of the Song of Simeon that's in our BCP is nicer than this, I
think. I love it, too, and always use it in my evening and/or nighttime
prayers, as well as at the end of funerals.
