Figgy pudding is akin to what we call Christmas pudding -  a steamed
fruit and spice pudding thast is best matured for some time bewteen
making and original steaming and then resteaming before serving. The
liquid in the mixture will typically include some form of alcohol (the
alcohol obviously being driven off during cooking) and it includes suet
(which can be vegetarian if desired). Some would warm some brandy to
pour over and burn before serving. Traditionally served with rum butter
or brandy sauce. The carol emanates from the West of England and it is
suggested (according to Wikipedia) that it may not have included actual
figs. The fruit used will generally include various dried vine fruits.
