I was thinking that, since the names and needs are already known to God,
there is no point at all in any names. Just a comment "those for whom
prayers are desired" is just fine.
I think people want to know what they are supposedly praying for, or at
least what the problem is, and they obviously like to know who it is, since
that makes it more meaningful. But, you're right. If a prayer is just for
God, then no names or anything are needed at all.
