[Magdalen] Lies about lies?

What has overcome me in recent days with more Republicans (only?) coming out 
of the woodwork to say that the phrase-of-the-week, last week, had never 
been uttered, is that if/when denial of  truth hold hands with  it's kissing 
cousin fake news at the highest levels of our government and becomes 
commonplace we really are in trouble. Maybe the frog's not in the cold water 
yet*, but the pot's sitting on the counter already and the burner is warming 
and someone is holding the frog in their hands.
