[Magdalen] Split California?

Upper Michigan has been trying to be its own State of Superior for a long
while, but many feel it couldn't go its own way economically. I haven't
seen comparisons, though: perhaps it would be comparable to one of the
smallest of the 50 states. I tend to think of the Upper Peninsula as mostly
pine forests, occasional waterfalls, cold beaches, and an occasional
hamlet, but there are some larger places up there as well. Clearly I need
to take a UP vacation. Still haven't done that...mainly just driven through
the eastern tip of it to get across the border into Canada a couple of
times.
