[Magdalen] Prayer request

I was thinking primarily of the separation factor. My friend Christie's son
Aiden was born at about 30 weeks and was a NICU baby for awhile. He weighed
3 lbs. and something at birth. Some of you may recall praying for him 6
years ago. He is now a great big kid, tallest in his class, who is among
other things following his mother as a swimmer. He's been winning blue
ribbons all summer in his age group. But Christie regrets the time he was
in NICU when he was separated from her.

My uncle John, born in 1908, was also early and very small. Neither he nor
his mother was expected to live, but they both pulled through. I remember
hearing tales of the harrowing horse-drawn ambulance ride through the
streets of St. Louis, and of how little John was wrapped in layers of
flannel and cotton batting, with a cotton batting cap, and placed in a
shoebox surrounded by hot bricks to keep him warm. They didn't have oxygen
then, of course. Somehow he made it, though, and grew up to be my favorite
uncle, the one who told us stories and took us fishing and was amazingly
patient with all children.
