The thought of pumpkin pie turns me off entirely, and you all know I 
have enjoyed touring America in the past. Pumpkin has virtually zero 
taste so you need to spice it up to have something worth eating. 
"American as apple pie" is a different matter, particularly if it's got 
cloves in it. We do have various fruit pies that are served as dessert 
so not all European pies are savoury.
