Originally the Cornish Pasty would have been deficient in meat - too 
expensive to include. There are also suggestions that like the Bedford 
Clanger it would have had two distinct ends - one savoury and one sweet. 
The idea was to provide a meal that could be eaten in the midst of a 
day's work.
