My heart goes out to all impacted by the storms. I’m in Alexandria for my VTS annual visit - thinking of venturing into DC today on train to be a tourist but my TX cold weather clothing is challenging - may have to borrow a coat.
Stay warm and safe against the weather.

Yes indeedy, I was giggling from the choir seats up in front.

line was there; it was!)
We had no power from early Friday to late Tuesday. The house was down
to 56 at its lowest - given that the temperatures were below freezing
at night, I am impressed. Everything in the refrigerator/freezer made
it through, although our neighborhood crows had a feast on some
leftovers. My beloved spousal unit finally sees the wisdom in a
generator - evaluation in progress. This is at least the 3rd
power-outage that lasted longer than 48 hours since 2012. I foresee
more in our future.
Yes, no light, no heat, no water, no internet, yes shelter. We have a
small propane camping stove. We have a pond, and bought 5-gallon
buckets to flush the toilets. We could get out to obtain potable
water. The parrots (blue & gold macaw, sun conure), cats. fish
(guppies), and dog all made it through. The cats were more actively
lap-seeking than usual though.
