[Magdalen] East coast storms

No power outages here - we were well north of the center of both storms. We
did get several inches of snow from yesterday's storm.
However, just a few days ago we (coincidently?) received an email from our
solar installer that they're now offering Tesla Powerwall batteries as
backup for outages. We're looking in to that. At least here, power, while it
goes out relatively often, has never gone out for very long. We do have a
wood stove for heat and a UPS for the internet, but, like you, no power
means no water.

Yes indeedy, I was giggling from the choir seats up in front.
(And took a startled look at the Collect for the Day to make sure that
line was there; it was!)
We had no power from early Friday to late Tuesday. The house was down
to 56 at its lowest - given that the temperatures were below freezing
at night, I am impressed. Everything in the refrigerator/freezer made
it through, although our neighborhood crows had a feast on some
leftovers. My beloved spousal unit finally sees the wisdom in a
generator - evaluation in progress. This is at least the 3rd
power-outage that lasted longer than 48 hours since 2012. I foresee
more in our future.
Yes, no light, no heat, no water, no internet, yes shelter. We have a
small propane camping stove. We have a pond, and bought 5-gallon
buckets to flush the toilets. We could get out to obtain potable
water. The parrots (blue & gold macaw, sun conure), cats. fish
(guppies), and dog all made it through. The cats were more actively
lap-seeking than usual though.
