I'm sorry.  This just over the top.
 
The word/s were employed in rural NW Wisconsin specifically
for stealing melons.  Such usage was (and is?) perfectly
innocent, and any pejorative sense simply wasn't/isn't there.
 
I don't think Pennsylvanians who go raccoon hunting, or
Wisconsinites who steal fruit need to give up this 
perfectly legitimate usage.
 
Please don't imply that this matter is somehow racist.  I can
