[Magdalen] Laid off

Got laid off from my job at UC Davis yesterday. It wasn't a total surprise;
I'd seen the writing on the wall for months. I'm still in a bit of a state
of shock, though.

I did get a very generous severance package, and my wife and I are in no
danger of losing the house. Obviously, I plan to get going with a job hunt
right away, but, dammit, I liked my job.

Oh well. Prayers would be appreciated.
