Weighing in...I can’t say I have no truck.

Though I do not believe it happened in the literal, physical sense. I would
however take it as fact that Mary has been translated from an ordinary,
strong minded, perhaps rather stubborn but whole hearted Jewish mother,
into a far more powerful and universal figure. And that as the divine
feminine was increasingly squeezed out of the spirituality of the
Mediterranean world, with even Jesus being portrayed as fully masculine
(large, strong with a beard), there was a deep emotional need for this
Assumption - and there still is.

We had to take her on the Patriarchy’s terms, but into our hearts she has
most certainly been assumed.

Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our
death. Amen.
