Bob Trache was rector of a large parish here in Virginia at the time. I remember being with his assistant at a meeting when she got the call; it was just 6 weeks before his scheduled consecration. I’ve never seen anyone turn so pale so fast.

What we knew initially was that, just before he moved to Atlanta, he had informed his wife that she wasn’t coming with him, that there was another woman. Later we learned about some of the financial irregularities. He was a brilliant and gifted priest—I don’t know how he thought he could get away with it.
