When I was serving on one of CDC’s IRBs, we received a protocol for a proposed study in Burkina Faso. In the protocol, the PI said that the consent forms would be translated as they proceeded. Of course, we asked why they couldn’t be printed. The PI informed us that there are over 200 distinct languages spoken in Burkina Faso.
