Here at the edge of the Pennsylvania Poconos, we've been getting somemoderate rain showers from this pesky storm system that has plaguedlarge areas from Texas to New England.  The storm system seems toreform daily, with flooding rains and awful tornadoes.
Yesterday was a repeat performance here with a strong line of thunderstormpassing through around noon.  It then cleared up and turned sunny,  Everyone,including the weatherforcasters thought we were through for the day.  However,a series of sort of "popcorn" storms developed quickly during the time I waswatching Rachel Maddow at 9-10 PM EDT.  All TV programs were interruptedwith "Take cover.  Tornado sighted."  We headed for the basement.  Then
came hail of gargantuan size, which sounded like the beaches of Normandyat D-Day because of our metal roof.
There was apparently a brief touchdown of tornado winds about five milesfrom this location. We had no obvious damage, I think because the worstof it was only over perhaps a five minute period.
I HATE hail and certainly tornadoes.
