$500 to go to the ER? The more I hear the more I am glad that we have 
the National Health Service this side of the pond. It's a heck of a 
sight cheaper than what happens in the USA and is far better value for 
money on whatever measure you choose. There are people who say that an 
insurance-based system is what we need but they often have links to 
insurance companies. I was born a year or so before the NHS came in and 
I certainly want it still to be here when I breathe my last.
