[Magdalen] Where are we

In February I took to a cane just before my file was referred to the
surgeon for his opinion. because in Jan 2011 he had installed a dynamic hip
screw to fix my broken hip Never heard a thing after that. Thanks,
COVID! Then later it turned out I had slipped out of sight in his system.
Started again and had an appointment in November. Scary x-ray showing
nothing that looks like a ball and socket joint by any stretch of the
imagination, just an amorphous area of arthritic and deteriorated 'bone'.
He said it's not routine because he must remove the old metalwork and there
is 'some urgency' because the screw might poke through what might have been
the socket wall. They even issued the antiseptic swabs to be used at home
before turning up for surgery! So I wait for a date. As I become less
and less mobile and sleep is often difficult I don't know what I will do if
a date is not forthcoming in the relatively near future. I worry about
COVID pressures on our hospitals stopping 'elective' surgery!

No garter, 😀

There is, however, so much for which to be thankful I don't want to go on
whining about the hip, but, boy, I hate being dependent and not able to get
on with life full speed ahead. My 'kids' are great. My daughter Fiona and
husband come out every couple of weeks to do housework and fix things and
my son Chris is here for a couple of days of morale boosting and odd job
doing. Looking ahead, now he can help me purchase BIG containers of kitty
litter and other things I can't carry anymore .

There is a lot of wonderful music out there via Youtube and FaceBook.
Recently I watched/listened to 'Messiah' by Voces8 and The Academy of
Ancient Music under Barnaby Smith. It was rivetting!!!
