I live in the outer university section, one block west of Meadowbrook Drive. I’ve been here since 1960. My husband and I were born and grew up in North Carolina, Morehead City all the way for him, High Point and Raleigh before my family moved to MC for me. We both went to college in Raleigh and he was hired as an engineer for GE in Syracuse as soon as he graduated. He came here in 1959 to begin work; I was doing graduate work at Tulane. We married the next year, and I’ve been here ever since — worked as a reporter for the Post-Standard and the now closed Herald-Journal and later in the news and publications office of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry on the SU campus. My husband is dead, GE is gone from Syracuse (and almost dead, it seems), but I’m still here at age 83. Our daughter lives in Delaware.
