Jay, Euclid Ave, the Bradford Hills end of it, is probably right. Lots of MDs lived in that neighborhood before the huge exodus to the eastern suburbs. And, Chad, it was a sad day indeed when “the process,” by then a unit of United Technologies, left town — devastation along with the departures of GE, Carrier, New Process Gear (GM), and on and on. And on. Now we’re trying, but really dependent upon “eds and meds,” Syracuse University, SUNY Upstate Medical University and its hospital, the VA hospital, and smaller colleges — LeMoyne, Onondaga Community College, and hospitals, e.g. St Joseph’s. Community General on Onondaga Hill is now part of Upstate. At one time, as the future of England was settled on the playing fields of Eton, the politics of Syracuse were settled on the playground of Most Holy Rosary. The Strathmore neighborhood is holding its own, but the neighborhoods around it have fallen upon sad times.
