[Magdalen] Cathedral Eucharist

Hi, Ann!

I usually try to at least go for the sermon, though occasionally I stay for the whole thing. On Easter I directed my folks there, because there was no way I could do an Easter service from my house! So we all watched the Cathedral service.

I haven’t actually been using straight Morning Prayer. I’ve been using the Liturgy of the Word portion of the Service of Holy Eucharist through the Peace and then continuing with the Lord’s Prayer and a couple of other prayers, the General Thanksgiving and blessings and dismissal. This morning I used a litany for a time of pandemic, which was on the National Church website and a prayer for racial healing.
We keep the room open afterwards for announcements and conversation and whatever business we might need to take care of.

We now have permission to record or stream our services live from our church buildings with just two or three people assisting us, but we basically have no technology—when we tried that back on March 15th, we brought in a hotspot, but we kept getting kicked off and ended up just recording it on FaceBook. Then it took forever to download. There’s also the fact that the Bishop has said clergy and lay leaders over 65 should not participate, though a 70-year-old friend has been given permission.
Anyway, this too shall pass, but it’s getting old. One of my friends is fond of saying that the Bible always says “It came to pass...”. It never says “It came to stay...”
Blessings, Ann—stay well!
