Minnesota in general, and Minneapolis in particular are known for theirliberal politics and friendliness. The liberal friendliness has stopped shortof welcoming in a large influx ot Blacks, from what I've been discoveringout of the fallout from the Lloyd murder. On the other hand, the
Hmong and other Vietnamese communities have done much better.
The presence of a large Black community is newer in the Twin Citiesthan it is in most other urban USA areas I still recall seeing my firstBlack man on the street in Minneapolis on a family shopping trip in1945. And the only times I recall my father loosing control of thefamily sedan was when we spotted a Black Man and then about the
same year, two habited nuns walking down the street of my homevillage, a Minneapolis suburb. The condition then was white andProtestant.
So there is a mistrust of the Black community in the Twin Cities.Minneapolis and Saint Paul obviously have their work cut out for them,.starting with their police departments.
