[Magdalen] Historic ordinations at Ascension, Chicago

Is that November 14? If so, we'll be in transit to our Benedictine
community's convocation on Long Island. We're driving rather than endure
layers of annoyance with air travel.

No plans for my birthday other than working, toward a deadline on Friday
and other projects to which I've been assigned to ensure no break and
seamless state of cluster. Also dealing with the anxiety of hosting someone
for four nights in our place that I don't feel is hospitable unless I leave
to make space, but of course that's not an acceptable option even though I
wasn't in on the decision to have the person stay. (It's somewhat
understood that if I don't get to know or help decide on plans, it's up to
me whether to participate.) I like the person enough to wish they had a
better place to stay. He'll arrive while I'm in the final push to the
deadline, so I'll automatically be the unsociable schmoe back at my desk.

Not a favorite part of the year for me; I'm ambivalent about the
Convocation as well. Been reading a book (slowly) about self-compassion;
one element is to be aware of whether you're getting what you need (not
want, need). Doing that is always in the future and can't happen now.
Unless I do something radical, which I may, like decamp graciously somehow
to the solitude of the Hilton Garden Evanston to finish up my project.
