I have just today returned from the 80th General Convention of the
Episcopal Church. I won't bore you with much news of what transpired there
because those of you who are interested, likely many of you, have probably
followed it via the usual sources. Those sources, however, will not have
reported that Susan Buchanan and I had a wonderful lunch together at a
place just across the street from the Baltimore Convention Center. It was
great to catch up and Susan got to meet almost my entire deputation who
followed me over to the restaurant and sat at an adjacent table.

Also of note, during a short break on the floor of the house I had a chance
to briefly introduce Suzie to Meg Wagner, daughter of the late Mary Jane
Anderson. They were acquainted via Magdalen but had never met in person.
Meg was a deputy from Iowa, Suzie from Western North Carolina.

The only other person whom I can think of with even a tangential Magdalen
connection was Bill Fleener, Jr., who I'm sad to say  narrowly missed
election to the Executive Council. I did have a chance to greet him though
and he promised to convey my greeting to his parents.
