[Magdalen] Dumped and Dumping.

Our power has just come back on - after being out 3-1/2 hours today, and
also 3 hours yesterday. These were (apparently) fairly widespread outages.
We've had (not coincidentally) a lot of heavy wet snow, along with sleet and
rain, and temperatures right around freezing. Trees are all white with snow
cover and there's close to a foot of snow on the ground. My car was in the
shop for VT inspection (I'm now an official Vuhmontuh!) and snow tires, but
still couldn't make it up our driveway - things are really slippery where
there hasn't been salt on the roads. Also, businesses have been complaining
about phone service from Fairpoint, which is on strike.

So I'm looking in to getting a UPS for our DSL modem. And considering a
generator. At least the power hasn't been out for long each time.

A couple days ago, we had a long spate of torrential rain. Had it been
snow (just a question of a couple degrees cooler!) We'd have had two feet
of snow.

As it was, we got by without any serious problems. No trees knocked down in
my area, but quite a few branches down, of course.
