"Crushing blow" is from the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee emails. If not always "crushing", it was "devastating".
Anyway. Just got word from the auto shop, and I should have followed my mechanic's suggestion six months ago and had my timing belt replaced (every 90,000 miles), as I have an "interrupter engine", meaning when the timing belt snaps, it crushes everything in its path, effectively destroying the engine. Yay. I done dood that thing. Long and short is, I either pay these (locally reputable) people to find me a reasonable used engine, or I sign it away and go home and buy a new (used) car. The latter ain't gonna happen. Approx $5,000 for a used engine, or approx. $14,000 for another used car (which would have within it a used engine, wink wink), over five years. I'm opting for the cheaper route. Got to. Plus, I have some money in savings just for such a crappy eventuality. I won't be out of pocket too much in the end. And I'll have a "new" engine. Yay, again.
Tomorrow, to Enterprise, to rent a car for hopefully not the full two weeks I was told it could take to find and install the engine. And, of course, I'm doing all this "during the $ea$on". Grrr.
Thanks in advance for the prayers.
